Chapter 4 - The True Owner

Nobody in the room even had time to take a breath.
Before Lauren could place her finger on the trigger, Liam moved with terrifying, brutal efficiency.
He grabbed the barrel of the gun, twisting it violently upward while simultaneously delivering a crushing strike to her wrist.
The bone snapped with a sickening crunch.
Lauren shrieked in agony, dropping the weapon as she fell to her knees on the expensive rug.
Caleb casually kicked the handgun across the floor and zip-tied her unbroken wrist to a heavy chair leg.
Ethan watched the violence in absolute horror, his entire world completely shattering around him.
He crawled across the floor and grabbed the hem of Grace's dress.
"Grace, please forgive me," Ethan sobbed hysterically.
"I was manipulated, I was blind, but we can fix this and start over together right here in our house."
Grace looked down at the pathetic, weeping man she had wasted five years of her life loving.
She calmly walked over to the dining table and picked up the small cream-colored box.
She opened the lid and let the ultrasound photograph flutter down onto Ethan's lap.
Ethan stared at the grainy black-and-white image of the baby, his eyes widening in profound shock.
"You are pregnant?" he gasped, tears streaming down his face.
"I am," Grace replied coldly.
"And you will never be allowed to see this child."
Ethan shook his head desperately, clinging to her ankles.
"You cannot take my baby, and you cannot take my home!" he shouted.
Julian reached into his briefcase one final time and pulled out a stack of legally notarized property deeds.
"You seem to be under a massive delusion regarding who actually owns this property," Julian stated smoothly.
He dropped the heavy stack of papers directly onto Ethan's chest.
"Grace secretly bought the mortgage from the bank three years ago using her grandmother's trust fund," Julian revealed.

Ethan stared at the documents, realizing he owned absolutely nothing.
"Get out of my house, Ethan," Grace commanded, pointing toward the shattered front door.
