Chapter 8 - The Security Chief’s Redemption

Vance roared with incredible fury as he hurled the billionaire violently across the concrete floor of the safe room.

Charles crashed heavily into the metal table, his suppressed weapon clattering out of his reach.

The two masked mercenaries spun around, raising their rifles to shoot the massive security chief.

Vance did not hesitate for a fraction of a second, tackling the closest mercenary with brutal, bone-crushing force.

He used the man’s own body as a shield as the second mercenary opened fire in the tight, echoing space.

Maria used the momentary distraction to drag Oliver quickly toward the wounded female FBI agent.

She grabbed the agent’s dropped sidearm, her hands shaking as she aimed it at the remaining standing mercenary.

She had never fired a gun in her entire life, but the fierce instinct to protect her child took completely over.

She pulled the trigger, the loud gunshot completely deafening in the confined underground bunker.

The bullet struck the mercenary directly in the leg, dropping him instantly to his knees in agony.

Vance easily disarmed the man he was holding and knocked him completely unconscious with a heavy blow.

He turned to look at Maria, giving her a small, respectful nod for her incredible bravery.

Charles scrambled desperately toward his dropped weapon, his face twisted into a mask of pure, unadulterated hatred.

Before his fingers could grasp the metal, Vance placed his heavy combat boot directly on the billionaire’s hand.

Charles screamed in pain, the sound echoing pathetically against the cold, concrete walls.

Vance reached down and grabbed his former boss by the collar, lifting him completely off the floor.

He stared deeply into Charles’s eyes, disgusted by the pathetic monster he had served for so many years.

Vance stated that a real man never tried to murder innocent children just to save his own bank accounts.

He delivered a devastating punch to Charles’s face, breaking his nose and dropping him instantly to the floor.

Agent Miller finally burst through the ruined doorway, completely flanked by a dozen heavily armed tactical officers.

They immediately secured the bleeding mercenaries and dragged the unconscious Charles out into the hallway.

Agent Miller lowered his weapon and rushed over to the wounded female agent, calling frantically for medical support.

He looked up at Maria, completely amazed that a simple housekeeper had managed to survive a highly trained mercenary hit squad.

He promised her that Charles would be locked away in a maximum-security black site for the rest of his miserable life.

The nightmare was finally over, but Maria noticed that Oliver was staring blankly at a small, dropped object on the floor.
