Chapter 7 - The Breach

The blinding blue flame of the thermal torch sliced through the heavy steel door like it was made of warm butter.
The female FBI agent raised her weapon, her hands remarkably steady as she aimed directly at the glowing metal.
She ordered Maria and Oliver to hide completely behind the massive metal filing cabinets in the back corner.
Maria dragged her son into the dark shadows, gripping his hand so tightly her knuckles turned entirely white.
With a deafening crash, the heavy steel door was violently kicked completely off its melted hinges.
Thick gray smoke poured into the safe room, obscuring the figures stepping through the ruined entrance.
The FBI agent shouted a final warning before opening fire, her bullets sparking against heavy tactical body armor.
Two masked mercenaries quickly returned fire, striking the brave agent twice in the shoulder and dropping her to the floor.
Maria screamed in horror as the agent collapsed, bleeding heavily onto the cold concrete.
A third figure stepped slowly through the smoke, completely unbothered by the violence and chaos.
It was Charles Whitmore, wearing a dark tactical suit and holding a suppressed submachine gun.
He looked around the ruined safe room until his cold, dead eyes finally locked onto Maria’s hiding spot.
He smiled a terrifying, victorious smile and slowly walked toward the corner where they were huddled.
He mocked Maria, asking if she truly believed a few federal agents could stop a man with endless billions.
Charles demanded that Oliver stand up and walk over to him immediately, using a tone of absolute authority.
Oliver trembled violently, looking up at Maria with tears streaming down his small, terrified face.
He shook his head bravely, refusing to move a single inch toward the man who had tried to murder him.
Charles sighed deeply, acting as if the child’s defiance was simply a minor inconvenience to his grand plan.
He raised the suppressed weapon and aimed it directly at Maria’s chest, completely removing the safety catch.
He promised Oliver that if he did not obey immediately, he would watch his real mother die right here.
Maria closed her eyes, silently praying for her son’s survival as she waited for the fatal gunshot.

Suddenly, a massive, bloody hand grabbed Charles by the back of his tactical vest and yanked him backward.
Vance, the towering security chief, had somehow escaped his own holding cell and followed the mercenaries into the bunker.
