Chapter 7 - The House of Lies

A blinding flash of lightning illuminated the broken window as glass rained down onto the carpet.
A massive, incredibly fast dog leaped through the shattered pane and tackled Isabella to the ground.
It was Lorenzo's fiercely loyal Cane Corso, a beast that had been locked in the kennels for weeks.
Isabella screamed in pure agony as the massive dog clamped its jaws around her firing arm.
She dropped the silver revolver, and it slid across the floor directly toward Clara's feet.
Clara lunged forward, snatching her crying daughter from the dangerous chaos.
Lorenzo did not waste a single second of the incredible distraction.
He walked up to the screaming housekeeper and kicked her brutally in the ribs.
"Call him off, Lorenzo, please!" Isabella begged, bleeding heavily onto the expensive rug.
Lorenzo snapped his fingers, and the massive dog immediately released her arm and sat obediently at his side.
"Who else is working with Giorgio?" Lorenzo demanded, aiming his shotgun at her head.
Isabella coughed up blood and smiled a bitter, terrifying smile.
"Everyone," she whispered darkly.
"The guards, the cooks, the drivers, they all took Giorgio's money."
Lorenzo realized his entire empire had crumbled while he was trapped in a chemical nightmare.
He grabbed Clara by the arm and pushed her gently down the hallway.
"We have to get to the underground garage before they seal the perimeter," Lorenzo instructed.
They moved quickly through the darkened mansion, guided only by the emergency backup lights.
They reached the heavy steel doors that led to the subterranean vehicle bay.
Lorenzo punched in his master passcode, but the keypad flashed a harsh, angry red.
"Giorgio locked us out of the system," Lorenzo cursed, slamming his fist against the steel door.
They were completely trapped in the basement with an army of heavily armed traitors hunting them down.
Suddenly, the intercom speaker on the wall crackled to life with a loud burst of static.

"You can't run from me in my own house, Lorenzo," Giorgio's voice echoed through the basement.
"I just flooded the lower levels with highly flammable gasoline, and I have a match."
