Chapter 4 - The Breach

Aleandro pulled a heavy pistol from his shoulder holster without a second of hesitation.
"Get out of bed and stay behind me," he ordered Rosa.
Despite her weakness, maternal instinct forced Rosa to her feet.
They rushed into the adjoining bedroom where Mia was rubbing her sleepy eyes in the dark.
"Shiny car man?" Mia asked, confused by the red emergency lights.
"Hold onto your mama tightly, little one," Aleandro told her gently.
Gunfire erupted in the main living room, the deafening sound of automatic weapons tearing through the expensive furniture.
Aleandro kicked open the secret panel in the back of the closet, revealing a hidden service stairwell.
"Go down three flights and wait by the service elevator," Aleandro instructed Rosa.
"What about you?" Rosa asked, clutching Mia to her chest.
"I am going to buy you some time," Aleandro promised.
He stepped out of the bedroom just as five masked mercenaries breached the hallway.
Aleandro moved with lethal precision, firing three perfect shots in the span of two seconds.
Three bodies hit the expensive rug instantly.
He dove behind a marble pillar as the remaining two men opened fire, shattering the glass artwork on the walls.
Marco suddenly appeared from the kitchen, flanked by two loyal Romano guards.
They laid down heavy suppressing fire, forcing the mercenaries to retreat into the lobby.
"Get to the stairwell, Boss!" Marco shouted over the roar of the guns.
Aleandro ran toward the hidden door, grabbing a discarded assault rifle from the floor.
He reached the third landing just as Rosa and Mia stepped into the service elevator.
Aleandro shoved them inside and pressed the button for the underground garage.
The doors were closing when Marco stumbled around the corner of the stairs.
Blood was pouring from a massive gunshot wound in Marco's shoulder.
Aleandro reached out his hand to pull his trusted adviser inside the elevator.
But Marco smiled sadly and hit the emergency stop button on the wall panel outside the doors.

"They hacked the security grid, Boss," Marco gasped, falling to his knees.
"The only way they could do that is if someone gave them your personal access codes."
