Chapter 8 - The Detonator

Dominic spun around in pure surprise as the heavy steel door slammed against the concrete wall.

He instantly reached for his weapon, but Vincent was already aiming his pistol directly at Dominic's chest.

Vincent did not scream or demand any dramatic explanations from the man who had ruined his life.

He simply pulled the trigger twice in rapid succession, shooting Dominic perfectly in the stomach and the right shoulder.

Dominic collapsed heavily onto the cold concrete floor, crying out in absolute agony as his weapon clattered away.

Vincent walked slowly toward the bleeding traitor, his expensive shoes echoing loudly in the empty garage.

He kicked Dominic's gun under a nearby car and stood directly over his former best friend.

Dominic coughed up a thick mouthful of dark blood, laughing weakly despite his fatal wounds.

He looked up at Vincent with a sick, twisted smile that sent a violent chill down Vincent's spine.

Dominic wheezed that Vincent was always too arrogant to realize when he was being completely outplayed.

He reached inside his bloody jacket with his functioning left hand and pulled out a small, remote electronic detonator.

Vincent's eyes widened in sheer panic as he realized the entire garage was rigged with heavy explosives.

He turned around and screamed at Clara to run back into the deep tunnel with Matteo.

Dominic pressed his bloody thumb down hard on the bright red trigger button.

A series of deafening, catastrophic explosions instantly ripped through the massive concrete support pillars of the garage.

The entire ceiling of the west wing collapsed downward in a terrifying avalanche of steel and shattered stone.

Vincent was thrown violently through the air by the massive concussive shockwave, crashing heavily into the side of his armored SUV.

His vision completely blacked out as the world around him dissolved into roaring flames and crushing debris.

When he finally opened his eyes, he was completely trapped beneath a heavy steel beam, surrounded by a raging inferno.

He could hear the heavy boots of the surviving Falcone mercenaries marching down the ramp through the thick black smoke.
