Chapter 9 - The Dead Brother Returns

Dominic lowered the shotgun, completely stunned by the sight of the ghost.
"Gabriel," Dominic breathed, his hands shaking slightly.
Gabriel walked into the room, holding his hands up to show he was unarmed.
"I apologize for the dramatic entrance," Gabriel smiled, a twisted expression on his scarred face.
"I had to fake my death six years ago to escape the real shadow boss."
"Arthur is just a greedy puppet who thinks he is in charge."
Dominic tightened his grip on the weapon.
"You sent the micro-pump to paralyze me?"
"No," Gabriel shook his head immediately.
"I broke into the estate three nights ago to leave the warning note for Clare."
"I was trying to warn you that the shadow boss was making their final move."
Clare stepped out from behind the fireplace, holding Ellie tightly.
"Who is the shadow boss?" she asked.
Gabriel looked at her with a profound sense of sadness.
"The person who hired your husband to steal my money in the first place."
Gabriel turned back to his older brother.
"They already turned Vincent, Dominic."
"Vincent wasn't tracking your car; he was tracking the biometric signal from your watch."
Dominic looked down at his wrist in pure horror.
He violently ripped the expensive smart watch off and threw it into the fireplace.
"It is too late," Gabriel said calmly.
"They aren't sending a ground team to capture you."
"They sent a tactical drone to level this entire property."
Gabriel checked his own watch.
"We have exactly five minutes before the airstrike hits this farmhouse."
"I brought a modified EMP generator in my truck."
"If we trigger it outside, it will scramble the drone's targeting system and detonate it prematurely in the sky."

Dominic did not hesitate.
"Set it up."
