Chapter 5 - The Convoy

Clare spun around, dropping the flashlight.
Vincent stood in the shadows, holding a silenced pistol aimed at her chest.
"You really should have stayed in the vault, Clare," Vincent sighed.
Before he could pull the trigger, the garage lights violently shattered.
A hail of bullets tore through the air from the opposite side of the room.
Vincent dove behind a concrete pillar for cover.
Dominic emerged from the darkness, leaning heavily on a stolen tactical rifle.
His leg was still tightly wrapped, but his eyes were blazing with pure fury.
"Get in the armored SUV!" Dominic roared at Clare.
Clare threw Ellie into the back seat of a massive black vehicle and jumped in behind her.
Dominic limped to the driver's side and pulled himself behind the wheel.
He slammed the engine into gear and hit the gas.
The heavy vehicle smashed through the reinforced garage doors.
They launched out into the pouring Chicago rain.
"Vincent is the traitor!" Clare yelled from the back seat.
"I know," Dominic replied coldly, steering with one hand.
"He was the only one who could have deleted the security footage."
Dominic grabbed a secure radio from the dashboard.
"To all loyal units, this is Dominic."
"Arthur and Vincent have initiated a hostile takeover."
"Rendezvous at the secondary black site immediately."
Three black SUVs pulled out of the estate's hidden access roads to escort them.
They formed a tight, protective convoy speeding down the slick highway.
Clare held Ellie tightly, praying the nightmare was almost over.
They approached a massive steel bridge crossing the river.
Dominic checked his rearview mirror, his face suddenly turning pale.
"Brace yourselves!" he screamed.
A blinding flash of light erupted beneath the lead SUV.
The massive explosion flipped the escort vehicle completely into the air.
May you like
It crashed down in a ball of fire, blocking the entire bridge.
They were completely trapped.
