Chapter 2 - The Service Chute

The bullet violently shattered the expensive vase located directly next to Sterling's head.

"Give me the card right now, or the next bullet goes through your heart," Julian ordered.

Before Sterling could even react, the elevator doors at the end of the hall chimed.

Four massive men wearing dark tactical gear stepped out with heavy assault rifles.

Julian smiled cruelly as his private mercenary team entirely locked down the luxury floor.

He grabbed Eleanor by her diamond necklace and dragged her violently toward the staircase.

"Kill the manager and throw the housekeeper out the window," Julian commanded his men.

The heavy tactical boots of the mercenaries echoed loudly against the polished marble floor.

Maya scrambled violently backward as the largest man leveled his rifle at her chest.

Manager Sterling did not hesitate for a single second to protect his staff.

The brave older man aggressively shoved the heavy housekeeping cart directly at the armed mercenary.

Bottles of bleach and heavy cleaning supplies violently crashed to the floor.

The sudden distraction caused the mercenary to fire wildly into the luxury ceiling.

"Run to the service chutes right now, Maya!" Sterling screamed at the top of his lungs.

Maya did not wait to be told twice as pure adrenaline flooded her veins.

She sprinted desperately down the long corridor toward the hidden staff maintenance door.

Gunfire absolutely shredded the expensive wallpaper just inches away from her face.

She violently slammed her shoulder into the heavy wooden door and fell inside.

The narrow maintenance hallway was completely dark and smelled strongly of industrial soap.

She could hear the heavy boots of the killers violently kicking the door behind her.

Maya frantically opened the massive metal hatch of the industrial laundry chute.

She took one final terrified breath and threw her entire body into the dark abyss.

She slid violently down the smooth metal tube for three entirely terrifying floors.

Her body aggressively slammed into a massive pile of dirty hotel linens in the basement.

She groaned in severe pain but realized she had miraculously survived the deadly fall.

The basement laundry facility was entirely silent and completely deserted for the night.

Maya desperately crawled out of the heavy sheets and looked for a security phone.

She needed to call the police to save Manager Sterling and the oblivious guests upstairs.

She grabbed the red emergency phone off the concrete wall and dialed frantically.

The line was completely dead and emitted a terrifying, continuous static noise.

Julian had already severed the entire communication grid of the massive luxury hotel.

Suddenly, the heavy metal door of the laundry facility began to slowly creak open.

Maya frantically dragged her battered body behind a massive industrial washing machine.

She held her breath as a bright tactical flashlight swept across the dark room.
