Chapter 7 - The Ultimate Betrayal

Avery could not process the depth of the betrayal.

Her own father had sold his grandson to a monster for a briefcase full of dirty money.

Liam bypassed the estate's lockdown and grabbed the keys to his fastest sports car.

They tore out of the underground garage, the engine roaring like a caged beast.

The rain poured down in sheets, making the slick Hamptons roads incredibly dangerous.

Liam pushed the car to its absolute limit, his knuckles white on the steering wheel.

"If he takes that baby out of the country, my mother has judges in her pocket everywhere," Liam warned.

"We will never see Leo again."

Avery pulled out her phone and dialed her father's number over and over, but it went straight to voicemail.

They smashed through the chain-link fence of the private airstrip just as the engines of the Sterling jet whined to life.

The sleek white plane was already taxiing down the wet runway, picking up speed.

Liam slammed on the gas, driving the sports car parallel to the massive jet.

Avery rolled down the window, screaming her son's name into the violent wind.

The plane lifted off the ground, the force of the jet wash violently shaking their car.

Liam slammed on the brakes, stopping just inches from the end of the tarmac.

They watched in helpless horror as the plane disappeared into the dark, stormy clouds.

Avery fell against Liam's chest, sobbing uncontrollably as her entire world shattered.

Liam held her tight, but he pulled a small black remote from his tuxedo pocket.

"My mother forgot who designed the avionics software for that specific plane," Liam whispered darkly.

He flipped a switch on the remote and pressed a glowing red button.
