Chapter 10 - The New Heir

Six months later.

The spring air in Paris was crisp and fragrant, smelling of blooming jasmine and fresh rain. Inside the Grand Palais, the most anticipated fashion show of the decade was about to begin.

The brand was no longer Vivian Enterprises. It had been completely restructured, purged of its toxic supply chains and reborn under the umbrella of Sterling Couture.

But Julian Sterling wasn't the one closing the show.

Lily stood backstage, wearing a beautifully tailored, understated black suit. She was no longer a mousy assistant hiding in the curtains. She was the Creative Director of the newly minted Elena Rossi Collection.

She watched the monitors as the models walked the runway. The designs were breathtaking—fluid, ethical, and inspired by the thousands of sketches her mother had left behind. The press was already hailing it as the greatest revival in modern fashion history.

Julian walked up beside her, handing her a glass of champagne. "The reviews are coming in. Vogue is calling you a visionary. Vanity Fair says you’ve redefined luxury."

Lily took the glass, smiling softly. "They're calling my mother a visionary. I'm just translating her language."

"You're too modest," Julian said, clinking his glass against hers. "You built this. You tore down a tyrant and built a castle from the rubble."

Lily looked at the monitor. The final model was walking out, wearing a breathtaking gown—a reimagined, ethical version of the dress Vivian had stolen all those years ago. The crowd in the Palais erupted into a standing ovation.

"It's time," the stage manager said, pointing to the runway. "They want the designer."

Lily took a deep breath. She thought of Vivian, who was currently sitting in a federal penitentiary awaiting trial for labor exploitation and corporate fraud. She thought of the fear that used to rule the dressing rooms, the terror of a fallen sequin.

That world was dead.

Lily stepped out from behind the velvet curtain, walking into the blinding, beautiful light of the flashbulbs. She didn't pose with haughty arrogance. She didn't glare at her assistants. She walked to the center of the runway, placed her hand over her heart, and bowed deeply.

The applause washed over her, deafening and genuine. The ghost of Elena Rossi was finally at peace, and the new queen of fashion had taken her throne—not with a crown of ice, but with a heart of fire.
