Chapter 7 - The Blood on the Floor

Massimo stopped his downward swing just in time as Carla burst frantically into the room instead of his betrayer.

She gasped loudly, covering her mouth in pure shock as she saw the mafia boss standing tall on his own two feet.

Tears sprang to her eyes as she whispered in disbelief that he was actually walking again.

Massimo's voice returned to its full, terrifyingly commanding power as he told her there was absolutely no time for celebration.

He leaned heavily against the wooden desk, his leg muscles screaming in agony from the immense effort.

He quickly informed her that Dean had just sent a professional hitman to the servant quarters to eliminate Nina.

Carla's face turned completely white as pure, unfiltered maternal panic consumed her entire body.

Massimo reached into his vest and handed her a small, heavily engraved silver key.

He instructed her to run to the wine cellar, find the empty barrel on the far left, and unlock the false bottom.

He swore on his own life that if she brought him what was inside, he would personally save her daughter.

Carla didn't hesitate for a single second; she turned and bolted frantically toward the basement stairs.

Massimo forced himself to move, using the corridor walls for desperate support as he limped toward the servant's wing.

Every single step was sheer torture, but the thought of the little girl's innocent smile pushed him relentlessly forward.

He reached the narrow hallway leading to Nina's room just as a massive man in a black suit raised a steel crowbar to the door.

The focused hitman didn't even hear the crippled mafia boss quietly approaching from the shadows behind him.

Massimo lunged forward with explosive speed, wrapping his thick arm tightly around the man's throat in a lethal chokehold.

The hitman thrashed wildly, dropping the heavy crowbar to the wooden floor with a loud, ringing clang.

Despite his weakened legs, Massimo’s terrifying upper body strength remained completely untouched by the poison.

He squeezed with crushing force until the man's eyes rolled back, dropping the lifeless, heavy body to the carpet.

Massimo quickly unlocked the bedroom door and pulled a terrified, crying Nina into his protective arms.

Suddenly, the electronic intercom on the wall crackled loudly to life.

Dean's voice echoed through the entire mansion, dripping with perfectly acted, fake sorrow.

He announced to all the men that their beloved boss had just passed away from a sudden, tragic heart attack.
