Chapter 6 - The Broken Syringe

Doctor Hale crept toward the bed, the moonlight glinting off the sharp needle in his hand.
He raised the syringe, preparing to plunge it directly into Massimo's neck.
Massimo suddenly opened his eyes, glaring at the doctor with murderous rage.
"How much is my life worth, Doctor?" Massimo asked in a chilling, calm voice.
The doctor gasped loudly, stumbling backward in absolute terror.
He had expected the mafia boss to be heavily sedated by the evening medication.
Massimo did not give the traitor a single second to recover.
He reached out with lightning speed, grabbing the doctor's wrist with incredible crushing force.
Doctor Hale screamed in pain as Massimo twisted his arm violently to the side.
The syringe slipped from his fingers, shattering into pieces on the hardwood floor.
Massimo pulled the stolen revolver from beneath his blanket and aimed it directly between the doctor's eyes.
"Pick up your phone and call Dean right now," Massimo ordered softly.
Doctor Hale fell to his knees, sobbing and begging for mercy.
Massimo cocked the hammer of the gun, the mechanical click echoing loudly in the silent room.
The doctor frantically pulled out his phone and dialed Dean's private number.
"It is done," Doctor Hale whimpered into the receiver, his voice shaking wildly.
Dean paused on the other end of the line, his instincts telling him something was terribly wrong.
"You sound out of breath, Julian," Dean noted suspiciously.
Before the doctor could answer, Massimo slammed the butt of the revolver into Hale's temple.
The doctor collapsed onto the floor, completely unconscious.
Massimo threw the blanket off his legs and slowly stood up, relying on sheer adrenaline to ignore the agonizing pain.
