Chapter 4 - The Heist of the Bloodline

The private lab was located in a sleek, glass skyscraper downtown. Sebastian had the security codes, but Arthur had placed his own personal mercenaries on the floor.

At 2:00 AM, dressed in sleek black tactical gear that Sebastian had smuggled into her room, Elena climbed through the ventilation shaft of the 40th floor. She had spent her life invisible, scrubbing floors and hiding in corners. Now, that invisibility was her greatest weapon.

Sebastian distracted the guards in the lobby by creating a loud, arrogant scene about a lost platinum watch, allowing Elena to drop from the ceiling into the main server room.

Her hands shook as she accessed the mainframe. Sebastian had given her a bypass drive. She plugged it in, the screen flashing green. She searched for Sterling, E.

A PDF popped up.

PROBABILITY OF PATERNITY: 99.99%.

Tears pricked Elena’s eyes. It was real. Her whole life of poverty, her mother's suffering—it was all a lie orchestrated by a monster. She downloaded the file onto a flash drive and quickly wiped the lab’s server clean. Arthur would have nothing but empty folders in the morning.

She crawled back through the vents, meeting Sebastian in the alleyway behind the building.

When she handed him the drive, he didn't just take it. He grabbed her hand, his thumb brushing over her knuckles. The tension between them was electric, dangerous, and thick with unspoken chemistry.

"We have the weapon," Sebastian whispered in the dark alley. "Now, we start the war."
