Chapter 4 - The Bitter Truth

Mia stared at the glowing screen in sheer, unadulterated horror as the twisted reality set in.

Victoria had never wanted to just replace Mia as Julian's beautiful corporate wife.

She desperately wanted Mia's child, using Julian's massive financial ruin to force him into a deadly agreement.

Mia slammed the phone onto the dusty wooden table and completely broke down into heavy tears.

Doctor Evans placed a comforting hand on her trembling shoulder and handed her a warm cup of tea.

"We need a highly powerful ally who can completely destroy Julian's company from the inside," the doctor suggested.

Mia wiped her tears away and immediately thought of Marcus Thorne.

Marcus was Julian's most ruthless business rival, a man who had tried to buy their company for years.

She used an encrypted messaging app to safely contact Marcus and arrange a completely secret meeting.

Marcus agreed to meet her at a private, highly secure airfield located just outside the city limits.

The next evening, Mia wore a heavy dark coat to hide her growing stomach and walked into the private hangar.

Marcus was sitting elegantly at a metal table, sipping expensive scotch from a crystal glass.

"I have the undeniable financial proof that Julian is completely bankrupt and actively committing massive fraud," Mia stated confidently.

She placed a copied USB drive directly onto the cold metal table right in front of him.

"If you take this to the federal authorities, you can completely acquire his company for pennies," she negotiated.

Marcus slowly picked up the small drive and smiled a completely genuine, highly satisfied smile.

"This is absolutely perfect, Mia, you have completely handed me the keys to his entire kingdom," Marcus laughed softly.

He poured a second glass of scotch and slid it smoothly across the table toward her.

Mia politely declined the strong drink, eager to finalize the deal and secure her ultimate revenge.

"I will definitely destroy Julian, but unfortunately, our deal ends right there," Marcus said with a dark shift in his tone.

Mia felt a sudden, terrifying chill run directly down her spine as the hangar doors slowly slid shut.

The heavy sound of expensive high heels echoed loudly across the concrete floor from the back office.

Victoria stepped gracefully out of the shadows, wearing a completely stunning red evening gown.

"You really should have learned to stop trusting wealthy men, darling," Victoria smiled wickedly.
