Before Graves and his men could adjust to the blinding light, the shadows around them moved. They had laser sights trained on every single one of the mercenaries.

"Drop the weapons," a voice boomed over a hidden PA system. "Or you will be liquidated."

Graves, a seasoned professional, knew a lost cause when he saw one. He dropped his gun and raised his hands. His men quickly followed suit.

Toby walked forward, the harsh lighting casting a sharp silhouette. He stopped a few feet from Graves. "Who hired you?"

"Client confidentiality," Graves grunted.

Toby nodded to one of his operators. The operator stepped forward and pressed the barrel of a rifle directly against Graves's kneecap.

"I'll ask one more time," Toby said softly. "And I highly suggest you value your ability to walk over a paycheck from a bankrupt boy."

"Marcus Vance!" Graves shouted, sweating profusely. "He paid me fifty grand to put you in the ground! He's waiting at the docks a mile from here for the confirmation call!"

Toby smiled, a predatory gleam in his eyes. He tossed a burner phone to Graves. "Call him. Tell him it's done. Tell him to come see the body."
