Chapter 3 - The Boardroom Blitz

The next morning, the Vance Syndicate board of directors gathered for an emergency meeting. The air in the glass-walled conference room was thick with panic. Word had leaked about the incident in the parking garage, and the stock market had already reacted. Vance shares were tumbling.

Richard stood at the head of the table, sweating through his custom suit. "We need to stabilize the narrative. We need to assure the shareholders that Thorne Industries is still our partner."

Before he could finish, the heavy glass doors of the boardroom swung open.

The security detail didn't stop the intruder; they held the doors open for him. In walked Toby. He was no longer wearing the worn canvas jacket. He was dressed in a bespoke midnight-blue suit that screamed quiet, devastating power. He looked every bit the apex predator his family was known to be.

Marcus, sitting near his father, shot up from his chair. "You! How did you get in here? Security, throw him out!"

The head of security stood perfectly still, looking at the floor.

Toby ignored Marcus entirely. He walked to the opposite end of the long mahogany table, pulled out a chair, and sat down. He tossed a thick manila folder onto the polished wood.

"Good morning, gentlemen," Toby said, a dangerous smile playing on his lips. "I am Tobias Thorne. And as of 9:00 AM this morning, Thorne Industries has initiated a hostile takeover of the Vance Syndicate. Your company belongs to me."
