Chapter 1 - The Storm Breaks

The silence in the monitoring room was deafening, broken only by the ragged, furious breathing of Alexander Sterling. On the screen, Victoria was still berating his trembling daughters, her voice a toxic hiss.

Alexander didn't say a word to his head of security. He just stood up. The heavy leather chair scraped violently against the floor.

He moved with the terrifying, controlled speed of a predator. He bypassed the private corridors, his footsteps completely silent on the thick carpets, until he reached the grand foyer. He could hear Victoria’s shrill voice echoing from the living room.

"You are spoiled, ungrateful little brats," Victoria sneered. "When I am officially your mother, things in this house are going to change. And you," she turned her venom to Elena, "will be on the street where you belong."

"No, she won't," a dark, thunderous voice boomed from the doorway.

Victoria spun around, the color draining from her perfectly contoured face. She stumbled backward, her designer heel catching on the Persian rug. "Alexander? What... what are you doing here? You're supposed to be over the Pacific!"

Alexander ignored her completely. He walked straight past his terrified fiancée and knelt in front of his daughters. Clara and Sophie threw themselves into his arms, sobbing uncontrollably into his tailored suit. He held them tight, burying his face in their hair, overwhelmed by a sickening wave of guilt.

"I've got you," he whispered, his voice cracking. "Daddy's here. I've got you."

He looked up at Elena. The young nanny was pale but stood her ground, her body still angled to protect the girls. Alexander’s eyes softened with profound gratitude. "Thank you, Elena. Take them to the playroom, please. Lock the door."

Once the heavy oak door clicked shut behind the girls and Elena, Alexander slowly rose to his feet. He turned to Victoria. The look in his eyes wasn't just anger; it was an execution.
