Chapter 5 - The Stolen Crown

Victoria stared at the boy in complete disbelief.

She immediately yelled across the room for Marcus to check the device.

Marcus plugged a small cable into the recorder and connected it to his smartphone.

His confident smile vanished as the screen confirmed the storage folder was entirely empty.

The real micro-SD card holding the critical evidence had been manually removed.

Victoria violently shook Leo by the shoulders, demanding to know where the card was.

Leo simply grinned and opened his mouth wide.

He pointed to his throat and happily announced that he had swallowed it.

Marcus cursed loudly, realizing the evidence was safely hidden inside the boy's stomach.

He ordered his private guards to carry Leo up to the master bedroom and lock him inside.

With Arthur sitting in a jail cell, Victoria officially took control of the Sterling empire.

She spent the next few hours transferring millions of dollars into untouchable offshore accounts.

Marcus paced nervously around the massive library, knowing they were running out of time.

If the boy digested the card naturally, the evidence could eventually be recovered.

Victoria picked up her phone and dialed a highly secure, untraceable number.

She told Marcus not to worry, because she was bringing in a specialist.

She had hired a notorious underground surgeon to surgically remove the card from the boy.

Outside the estate, a violent thunderstorm began to rain heavily over the city.

Hannah stood shivering in the dark bushes near the heavily guarded front gates.

Her face was bruised, but her determination was stronger than ever.

She knew she had to break back into the impenetrable fortress tonight.

She pulled a specialized glass-cutting tool from her damp coat pocket.

She successfully bypassed the laser grid near the kitchen windows and slipped inside.

She crawled quietly through the narrow ventilation shafts toward the master bedroom.

Through the metal grate, she saw Victoria letting a man in a white lab coat into Leo's room.

The surgeon pulled a gleaming silver scalpel from his medical bag.

But as the surgeon turned toward the bed, he suddenly pressed the scalpel against Victoria's throat.
