Chapter 4 - The Betrayal Unfolds

"Arthur Sterling, you are under arrest," the police captain shouted.
Arthur froze in utter shock as two officers aggressively grabbed his arms.
He screamed that Marcus was the criminal holding them hostage.
The captain ignored him, snapping heavy steel handcuffs onto the billionaire's wrists.
Marcus quickly tucked his silver handgun away and put on a mask of fake concern.
He told the police that Arthur had lost his mind and kidnapped his own son.
Victoria immediately started crying fake tears, running into the arms of a police officer.
She claimed that Arthur had built the hidden wall to torture the poor boy.
Hannah stepped forward to defend Arthur, holding up the unlocked voice recorder.
She shouted that the device contained the absolute proof of Marcus and Victoria's conspiracy.
The police captain violently snatched the device from her hands.
Instead of listening to it, he handed it directly to Marcus with a respectful nod.
Arthur realized with absolute horror that the local police force was on Marcus's payroll.
They dragged Arthur toward the exit, his expensive shoes sliding against the marble floor.
Leo screamed for his father, fighting fiercely against the arms of a security guard.
Arthur yelled for Hannah to take the boy and run as far away as possible.
Before Hannah could move, the corrupt captain struck her across the face.
She collapsed to the floor, her vision swimming as the guards surrounded her.
Marcus looked down at her with a victorious, cruel smile.
He ordered his men to throw the maid out onto the street.
Victoria walked over and forcefully grabbed Leo by his dusty collar.
She whispered to the boy that his father was going to prison for the rest of his life.
Leo stopped crying and looked directly into his evil stepmother's eyes.

He smiled a chilling, completely fearless smile.
"The recorder you took is totally empty," the seven-year-old boy whispered.
