Chapter 9 - The Sniper's Bluff

I stood completely frozen in the center of the dock, surrounded by thirty deadly cartel assassins.
Vincent laughed maniacally and aimed his personal revolver directly at my chest.
He told me it was time to join my pathetic younger brother in the grave.
I looked at Hannah's desperate, crying face and baby Grace's terrified gray eyes.
Instead of begging for my life, I threw my head back and began to laugh uncontrollably.
Vincent lowered his gun slightly, completely confused by my sudden, insane reaction.
I reached inside my heavy trench coat and pulled out a small, blinking detonator switch.
I loudly declared that the silver flash drive he just put in his pocket was actually a highly advanced military explosive.
I bluffed with absolute conviction that if I released my thumb from the button, the drive would blow him and the child into a million pieces.
Vincent's face turned completely pale, and he frantically reached into his pocket.
The cartel assassins nervously lowered their rifles, unsure if they were about to be caught in a massive blast radius.
I used their moment of extreme hesitation to shout a command into my hidden earpiece.
I had not come to the shipping yard entirely alone or unprepared.
I had secretly forwarded Vincent's location to the elite FBI organized crime task force before I arrived.
I had entirely sacrificed my own freedom and my mafia empire to ensure my niece survived this night.
Suddenly, six heavily armored federal tactical helicopters crested over the dark shipping containers.
Blinding spotlights illuminated the entire dock, and a booming voice ordered everyone to drop their weapons immediately.
The cartel assassins instantly panicked and began firing wildly at the federal choppers.
A massive, chaotic firefight erupted across the entire concrete loading dock.

Vincent realized he had been completely outsmarted and lost his entire criminal empire in seconds.
He grabbed baby Grace forcefully and sprinted toward the metal stairs leading up to the roof of the main warehouse.
