Chapter 10 - The Caruso Legacy

I completely ignored the chaotic crossfire and sprinted aggressively after Vincent.

I chased him up the rusted metal staircase, my boots clanging loudly against the steel.

I reached the flat, rain-slicked roof of the warehouse just as Vincent prepared to board his private escape helicopter.

I tackled him violently from behind, knocking the wind completely out of his lungs.

Vincent dropped Grace safely onto a pile of soft canvas tarps before turning to fight me.

We engaged in a brutal, desperate hand-to-hand brawl on the edge of the towering roof.

Vincent pulled a hidden combat knife and slashed deeply across my chest, tearing my shirt.

I ignored the searing pain, grabbed his armed wrist, and twisted it until the bone audibly snapped.

Vincent screamed in pure agony and dropped the bloody knife onto the wet roof.

With one final surge of furious strength, I punched him squarely in the jaw.

Vincent stumbled backward, lost his footing on the slippery edge, and plummeted sixty feet down onto the unforgiving concrete docks below.

I rushed over to the canvas tarps and pulled little Grace safely into my arms.

Hannah burst through the rooftop access door, accompanied by heavily armed FBI agents.

She ran toward us and collapsed into my arms, sobbing with overwhelming joy and relief.

The long, terrifying nightmare was finally and permanently over for our family.

Because of my massive cooperation in taking down the cartel and corrupt police, my elite lawyers negotiated full federal immunity for my past crimes.

I officially dismantled the violent Caruso crime syndicate and transitioned my remaining wealth into legitimate real estate development.

I brought Hannah and Grace into my massive new penthouse, officially adopting them as my true, beloved family.

Grace grew up safe, completely happy, and incredibly loved, entirely shielded from the darkness of the mafia world.

It was the perfect, peaceful life that Julian had always desperately wanted for them.

Exactly five years later, a completely unmarked black package was delivered directly to my secure penthouse desk.

I carefully cut the tape and opened the small cardboard box.

Inside the box rested Julian’s favorite gold watch and a recent, high-resolution photograph of a man standing in a tropical market.

The man in the photo had unmistakable gray eyes with a thin ring of gold around the iris.

Written on the back of the photograph in familiar handwriting were the words: "It is finally safe to come home."
