Chapter 9 - The Ultimate Standoff

The deafening explosion ripped through the western wing of the mansion, sending thick, choking smoke billowing into the hallways.
Julian coughed violently, shielding his eyes as he bravely pushed through the burning debris toward the wine cellar.
The heavy iron door was completely blown off its hinges, lying twisted and broken on the freezing concrete floor.
Julian sprinted into the dark cellar, his heart pounding erratically as he frantically searched for Maya in the ruins.
He found her remarkably unharmed, holding a heavy iron pipe and standing fiercely over three unconscious mercenaries.
You actually took down three armed men by yourself?
Maya dropped the heavy pipe, rushing desperately into Julian's incredibly protective and relieved embrace.
I triggered the emergency pressure valve on the vintage wine casks to create a localized blast, just like you taught me.
There was no time for lengthy celebrations or profound confessions of gratitude in the burning basement.
We absolutely have to get to the roof right now before Victoria forces Leo onto that waiting helicopter!
Julian and Maya ran fiercely up the emergency fire stairs, their lungs burning as they climbed the massive estate.
They burst violently through the rooftop access door, the fierce wind from the spinning helicopter blades whipping across the helipad.
Victoria stood dangerously close to the edge of the roof, holding a terrified, crying Leo firmly by the arm.
Step away from the helicopter, Victoria, or I swear I will end you right here and now!
Victoria laughed maniacally, pulling a gleaming silver revolver from her designer coat pocket and aiming it at Leo.
If I cannot have your billion-dollar empire, Julian, then you absolutely will not have a family to share it with!
Julian froze in absolute terror, entirely unwilling to risk his young son's fragile life in a reckless shootout.
Maya slowly stepped forward from behind Julian, her hands raised completely empty in the freezing night air.
You don't want to hurt that innocent boy, Victoria, because you know the Federal Bureau is already monitoring this roof.
May you like
Victoria sneered viciously, momentarily distracted by Maya's incredibly confident and fearless bluff.
In that singular, split second of hesitation, Julian issued a highly classified voice command to his smartwatch.
