Chapter 4 - The Invisible War
Maya clutched her duffel bag to her chest, staring at Julian in absolute, bewildered shock.
You just fired me in front of your cruel wife, and now you are kidnapping me in broad daylight?
Julian typed rapidly on his keyboard, not looking up from the glowing screen of his laptop.
I had to fire you publicly to make Victoria believe she had successfully won her little game of deception.
Maya blinked away her tears, slowly realizing that the brilliant tech billionaire was playing a much larger game.
I knew Victoria planted the Rolex on you the moment I walked into the foyer, Maya.
Then why didn't you just expose her lies right then and there?
Julian finally closed the laptop, turning his intense, calculating gaze toward her.
Because Victoria is not just a spoiled, vindictive socialite looking for cheap entertainment.
She is actively working with a highly dangerous corporate syndicate trying to steal my proprietary artificial intelligence code.
Maya felt a cold shiver run down her spine as the true severity of the situation finally sank in.
The hidden cameras were not erased by a simple glitch or a random system failure.
They were wiped by someone operating from the inside, someone with highest-level security clearance in my own company.
I needed Victoria to think she had successfully removed my most trusted nanny from the board.
Maya took a deep breath, her fear slowly morphing into a fierce, undeniable determination.
What exactly do you need me to do, Mr. Vance?
Julian handed her a sleek, specialized keycard that glowed with a faint blue light.
Victoria keeps a physical, analog backup drive hidden inside a biometric safe in her private dressing room.
I need you to sneak back into the mansion tonight during our charity gala and steal that exact drive.
Maya nodded bravely, accepting the heavy responsibility without a single ounce of hesitation.
May you like
I will not let you down, Julian.
Before Julian could thank her, the armored SUV was violently rear-ended by a speeding, unmarked truck.
