Chapter 2 - The Billionaire Hunt

The black Rolls-Royce violently swerved through the narrow city streets to evade the corrupt police.
Shiomara clutched the heavy envelope to her chest, her knuckles turning completely white.
“Why are the police trying to kill you?” Shiomara demanded with a shaking voice.
Leo reloaded his pistol while staring intensely out the tinted window.
“They are not real cops, Shiomara,” Leo explained with cold anger.
“They belong to Silas Thorne, the most ruthless corporate raider on the eastern seaboard.”
Maya wiped a smear of blood from her cheek and took a deep breath.
“Thorne wants to hostilely take over our company, but he needs the Sterling Tower to do it,” she added.
Julian looked at Shiomara with a deep sense of guilt in his eyes.
“By signing the deed over to you, we legally blocked his corporate takeover,” Julian confessed.
Shiomara realized they had not just given her a gift.
They had unintentionally placed a massive, billion-dollar target directly on her back.
The chauffeur took a sharp left turn into a dark, abandoned underground parking garage.
The heavy steel gates rolled down behind them, plunging the garage into eerie shadows.
“We are safe here for now,” Leo said as he opened the car door.
They stepped out into the damp, echoing concrete structure.
Shiomara looked at the three powerful billionaires who were once starving children under a bridge.
“You dragged an old woman into a war she does not understand,” Shiomara scolded them fiercely.
Maya lowered her head, genuine tears welling in her eyes again.
“We truly thought transferring the deed would make Thorne back down completely,” Maya whispered.
Suddenly, the headlights of the Rolls-Royce flickered and died.
The emergency lights in the parking garage completely shut off, leaving them in absolute darkness.
A slow, mocking applause echoed loudly across the empty concrete walls.
“Did you really think a piece of paper could stop me, children?” a deep voice asked from the shadows.

A dozen red laser sights activated simultaneously, painting bright dots across Shiomara and the triplets.
Out of the darkness stepped Silas Thorne, holding a heavy golden cane and smiling wickedly.
