Chapter 6 - The Laundry Cart

I backed out of the empty hospital room, a raw, primal scream tearing from my throat.
Nurses and doctors rushed out of the nearby rooms, staring at me in absolute shock.
"Where is my daughter?" I shrieked, grabbing the nearest doctor by the shoulders.
The doctor looked utterly confused and immediately called for hospital security over the intercom.
The entire pediatric wing was placed on an emergency lockdown within sixty seconds.
Heavy magnetic doors slammed shut at the end of every corridor, trapping everyone on the floor.
Security guards swarmed the area, demanding to know what had happened to the patient in room 412.
I frantically explained that Nurse Collins was an accomplice to a murder plot and had taken my child.
The head of security pulled me into the monitoring room to review the hallway cameras.
He rewound the footage to the exact moment I had left the hospital to search my house.
We watched the grainy black-and-white video as Nurse Collins entered Lily's room pushing a large, canvas laundry cart.
Four minutes later, she exited the room with the same cart, but the canvas sides were visibly bulging.
"She put Lily in the laundry bin to sneak her past the nurse's station," the security chief said in horror.
We tracked the camera feeds as Nurse Collins rolled the cart onto the service elevator.
The camera inside the elevator showed her removing a medical syringe from her scrubs.
She injected something into the heavy canvas bag, ensuring my daughter remained completely unconscious.
The elevator doors opened on the basement level, which led directly to the underground parking garage.
"The lockdown only secured the upper floors, she is already out of the building," the chief said, slamming his fist on the console.
My entire world was collapsing, and I had absolutely no idea where they were taking my little girl.
Suddenly, a young resident doctor burst into the security room holding a wireless phone.

"Your husband just woke up from his coma," the resident said, looking directly at me.
"He ripped his breathing tube out and says he knows exactly who took your daughter," the doctor added frantically.
