Chapter 6 - The Chaos Erupts

Julian stared at the glaring red warning on the laptop screen in a state of absolute, unadulterated shock.
He had been so incredibly confident in his flawless revenge plan that he had never considered the possibility of a hidden panic button.
I had pressed the silent alarm tucked beneath the kitchen island exactly when I dropped the serving spoon during his arrival.
The tall fake cop standing behind me cursed loudly, raising his heavy rifle toward the front window of the living room.
"The whole street is crawling with heavily armed cops, boss!" the man yelled, panic lacing his aggressive voice.
Julian violently slapped the laptop off my legs, sending the expensive machine crashing and shattering onto the hardwood floor.
His calm, collected demeanor completely vanished, replaced by the chaotic, violent rage of a cornered wild animal.
He grabbed Tyler aggressively by the collar of his shirt, dragging my son forcefully onto his feet despite the plastic restraints.
"We are leaving through the garage right now, and the boy is coming with me as leverage," Julian barked at his men.
Tyler struggled desperately against the strong grip, kicking his feet and trying to throw his weight backward onto the rug.
The shorter man stepped forward to help Julian control my son, leaving me entirely unguarded for just a fraction of a second.
I did not waste the opportunity to fight for my child's life with everything I had left in me.
I threw my body forward, snatching the heavy, solid glass ashtray off the coffee table with both of my hands.
I swung the heavy glass object with all my remaining strength, smashing it directly into the side of the tall man's knee.
He roared in pure agony, his leg completely buckling beneath him as he collapsed heavily onto the floor.
His heavy rifle slipped from his grasp, sliding quickly across the smooth wood floor toward the fireplace grate.
Julian turned his head at the sudden noise, his eyes widening in pure fury as he saw his man go down.
He completely let go of Tyler and raised his suppressed pistol, pointing it directly at my chest without a second of hesitation.
"You really should have just transferred the damn money, Mom," Julian spat viciously, his finger tightening heavily on the trigger.
Tyler screamed at the top of his lungs, throwing his entire body weight directly into Julian's side like a football tackle.
The sudden impact knocked Julian severely off balance, sending both of them crashing violently into the expensive flat-screen television.
The gun fired wildly as they fell, the suppressed bullet flying completely off target and tearing a massive hole through the drywall.

The shorter fake cop quickly recovered from the shock and aggressively pulled his own weapon from his tactical belt.
He aimed his gun squarely at the back of Tyler's head while my son was still tangled with Julian on the floor.
