Chapter 9 - The Eviction

Vanessa looked like a wild animal cornered in a cage.

Her expensive designer dress was wrinkled, and her perfect makeup was smeared from crying genuine tears of panic.

"You set him up!" Vanessa screamed, slamming her hands down on my mahogany desk.

"Greg would never hurt anyone, you fabricated those tapes to steal our money!"

I remained perfectly still, watching her unravel with quiet satisfaction.

"Greg confessed to murdering my children in my living room, Vanessa," I stated with a voice as cold as ice.

"He cut the brakes to hide his cartel fraud, and our father helped him destroy the evidence."

Vanessa stepped back, shaking her head in violent denial.

"Dad would never do that," she whispered, her voice breaking.

"Dad is currently in police custody being interrogated as an accessory to murder," I informed her bluntly.

The reality of the situation finally crashed down on her delicate shoulders.

Her husband was a murderer, her father was going to prison, and her perfect life was an absolute illusion.

Before she could process the grief, two corporate lawyers walked into my office carrying thick stacks of legal paperwork.

"Mrs. Sullivan, you have been served," the lead lawyer said, handing Vanessa a heavy manila envelope.

Vanessa numbly opened the envelope and pulled out the legal foreclosure notices.

"What is this?" she asked, her hands trembling violently.

"This is the immediate seizure of your house, your bank accounts, and our parents' entire estate," I explained.

"You co-signed the liability clauses when Greg took the advance from Meridian."

"You are leaving us homeless?" she gasped, looking at me as if I were a monster.

"You left me entirely alone on the worst day of my life so you could drink champagne," I reminded her.

"I am simply collecting the debt you owe me."

I signaled to Marcus, who gently but firmly grabbed Vanessa by the arm and escorted her out of the building.

She screamed my name as the elevator doors closed, but I felt absolutely nothing.

Over the next three months, the legal proceedings completely dismantled my former family.

Greg was convicted of triple homicide and sentenced to three consecutive life terms in a maximum-security federal prison.

My father accepted a plea deal for tampering with evidence and was sentenced to ten years behind bars.

My mother and Vanessa were evicted from their luxurious homes when Meridian seized the collateral assets.

With all their bank accounts frozen and their social reputation completely destroyed, they were forced to move into a cheap, run-down motel on the edge of the city.

No one in their wealthy social circle would even return their phone calls.

They were completely broke, isolated, and entirely forgotten by the world they worshipped.

I had achieved absolute, perfect vengeance for the family I lost.

I took a long, deep breath and prepared to finally visit the cemetery to tell Daniel it was over.

As I reached for my coat, a strange delivery courier walked into my office holding a small, unmarked package.
