Desperation breeds betrayal.
Facing life in prison, my parents’ united front completely crumbled. My mother, realizing she was going to spend the rest of her life behind bars, decided to strike a deal with the District Attorney.
She offered to testify against my father.
Through Marcus, I learned that my mother claimed the entire plot was my father’s idea. She told the DA that she was a "victim of his psychological abuse" and that she had been too terrified to stop him from kicking us out of the car.
