Chapter 6 - The Visitor

Richard sat shivering on the uncomfortable metal cot inside his cold, concrete holding cell.

The harsh fluorescent lights buzzed aggressively above his head, making his terrible headache feel significantly worse.

He had spent the entire night desperately calling his expensive legal team, only to find that every single lawyer had abandoned him.

His personal bank accounts were completely frozen, and his vast corporate empire had successfully been stripped away.

He foolishly believed that his wealthy, influential family would immediately arrive to post his exorbitant bail.

Instead, he was forced to wear a bright orange jumpsuit and eat stale bread while surrounded by dangerous criminals.

A heavy steel door clanked open, and a tired prison guard loudly called out Richard's specific inmate number.

The guard roughly escorted him down a long, dreary hallway toward the sterile visitor visitation room.

Richard felt a sudden surge of massive hope, assuming his powerful mother had finally come to rescue him from this nightmare.

He sat down in the plastic chair and picked up the heavy black telephone attached to the thick security glass.

He looked up, and his arrogant hope was instantly crushed into a million painful pieces.

Sitting on the other side of the bulletproof glass was not his powerful mother, but his former secretary, Jessica.

She was wearing a stunning designer dress that Richard had paid for, and she looked absolutely glowing with victory.

Richard demanded to know why she was there, his voice trembling with a mixture of raw anger and deep humiliation.

Jessica laughed softly into the phone, her voice dripping with cruel, unapologetic malice.

She calmly explained that she had only come to the prison to personally deliver her gorgeous wedding invitation.

She proudly announced that she and Julian were getting married next week to legally consolidate their massive corporate wealth.

Richard slammed his fist against the thick glass, screaming that she was a gold-digging traitor who would eventually ruin Julian too.

Jessica simply smiled, hung up the phone, and walked away, leaving Richard to rot in his miserable cell.

She strutted confidently out of the prison lobby, enjoying the absolute perfection of her flawless victory.

She walked across the dark, empty parking lot and unlocked her expensive luxury SUV.

Jessica opened the driver's side door, ready to speed off to her lavish new life with Julian.

She let out a terrified scream when she suddenly noticed a dark figure sitting quietly in the back seat of her vehicle.

I leaned forward from the shadows, holding a thick, sealed medical folder and a chillingly calm expression.

I whispered softly that Julian was going to cancel the wedding immediately once he saw the DNA test I was currently holding.
