Chapter 7 - The Fiery Escape

The massive rocket violently erupted from the launcher, leaving a blinding trail of fire in the dark night.
My father aggressively jerked the steering wheel, completely forcing the car off the paved road.
The explosive projectile narrowly missed our bumper and detonated against a stack of metal shipping containers.
The concussive shockwave shattered our rear window, showering us with sharp, dangerous glass.
I curled my body entirely over Hailey, desperately shielding her from the deadly flying debris.
My father slammed his foot on the gas pedal, tearing through the chain-link fence of the shipyard.
"Keep your head down, Clara!" my father roared over the deafening sound of the roaring engine.
We sped onto the deserted coastal highway, entirely leaving the burning shipyard far behind us.
I looked down at my beautiful daughter, weeping tears of pure joy that she was finally safe.
But I knew Liam and the cartel would absolutely never stop hunting us as long as they were free.
We needed to completely destroy their entire criminal empire before the sun came up.
My father drove us to a highly secure underground federal bunker completely hidden beneath the city library.
He used his old clearance codes to entirely bypass the biometric scanners and heavily armed guards.
We walked into a massive command center filled with glowing screens and high-ranking government officials.
My father slammed the stolen cartel ledgers aggressively onto the main briefing table.
"I need immediate federal warrants for every single person named in these documents," my father demanded.
The federal director reviewed the ledgers, his face turning pale at the sheer magnitude of the corruption.
"This implicates half the judges and politicians in the entire state," the director whispered in shock.
He immediately mobilized dozens of elite FBI tactical teams to execute simultaneous raids across the city.
I sat in a quiet side room, entirely exhausted, gently feeding Hailey a warm bottle.
I finally allowed myself to believe that the horrific nightmare was approaching its end.
Liam was going to spend the rest of his miserable life in a dark federal prison cell.
Suddenly, the heavy metal door of the side room completely locked with a loud, electronic click.
May you like
The federal director slowly walked into the room, holding a suppressed pistol entirely aimed at my head.
"You really should have just died at the shipyard, Clara," the corrupt director sighed.
