Chapter 9 - The Final Trap

I stared at the doctor, the horrific truth crashing down on me all at once.
This was the man who had originally sold Daniel the black-market neurotoxin.
He slowly placed his cell phone back into his coat pocket and offered a calm, sickening smile.
He told me it was a remarkable medical miracle that we had survived this long.
He reached into a sterile cabinet and pulled out a large, heavy syringe filled with clear liquid.
He explained that this dose was pure potassium, which would stop my heart instantly and mimic a natural heart attack.
Noah screamed and tried to climb off the stretcher, but the doctor shoved him back down.
I realized I was completely trapped in a locked room with no weapons and no escape.
I backed away slowly, desperately looking for anything I could use to fight him.
My hand brushed against the heavy metal oxygen tank standing next to the hospital bed.
The doctor took a step toward me, raising the deadly syringe.
I grabbed the metal wrench hanging from the tank and violently smashed the pressure valve.
High-pressure oxygen blasted into the small room with a deafening, terrifying hiss.
The doctor stumbled backward, shielding his face from the powerful burst of air.
I grabbed the heavy metal IV pole and swung it like a baseball bat into his ribs.
He collapsed onto the sterile floor, dropping the syringe under a rolling cabinet.
I quickly unlocked the heavy trauma room door and dragged Noah out into the busy hallway.
Daniel was sprinting down the corridor, wearing a fake expression of absolute panic.
He shouted to the hospital security guards that I was suffering from a severe psychotic break.
Two massive security guards immediately rushed forward and grabbed my arms.
Daniel walked up to me, a smug, victorious sneer plastered across his face.

He whispered that I had completely lost, and no one would ever believe a crazy woman.
Suddenly, a dozen heavily armed federal agents stormed through the front doors of the emergency room.
