Chapter 9 - The Taste of Home

The massive scandal completely destroyed Arturo Vargas's entire corporate empire in exactly less than forty-eight hours.
The billionaire was violently dragged out of his mansion in heavy federal handcuffs, screaming completely empty threats at the overwhelming swarm of reporters.
The massive insurance payout for the destroyed restaurant was completely expedited, absolutely clearing all of Camila's predatory debts entirely.
Mauricio's childhood home was entirely legally returned to him, completely free and completely clear of any malicious corporate liens.
A month later, the beautiful town of León was completely buzzing with pure excitement over the grand reopening of La Esperanza in a brand-new, even larger location.
Mauricio had spent the entire month completely isolating himself in his lonely house, utterly paralyzed by his own profound guilt.
He was starving, broken, and completely alone, knowing perfectly well that he absolutely did not deserve to share in his wife's massive triumph.
But his overwhelming hunger and deep longing finally pushed him out of the dark house and into the cool evening air.
He walked quietly into the bustling, beautiful new restaurant, completely failing to recognize the wealthy, elegant woman managing the busy floor as his own wife.
He sat alone in a dark corner booth and quietly ordered the simple house special from a very polite, entirely unfamiliar waiter.
When the steaming plate arrived, Mauricio took a single, hesitant bite of the rich, traditional stew.
He could not hold back his heavy tears; the incredible flavors tasted exactly like the deep, unconditional love and warm home he had so foolishly thrown away.
Camila slowly emerged from the back kitchen, her white apron perfectly clean and her dark gaze incredibly firm and resolute.
She walked gracefully over to his lonely table, looking down at the broken, weeping man who had once been her entire world.
"Did you like the dish, Mauricio?" she asked, her voice completely steady and entirely devoid of any anger.
He just nodded, his entire body trembling as the tears flowed freely down his tired face.
"It's the last time I cook for you," she said, placing a thick, heavily stamped manila envelope completely onto the table.
She told him that the envelope contained completely finalized divorce papers, totally ready for his final signature.

She explicitly stated that she was absolutely ready to completely walk away from their marriage forever to fully embrace her new, independent life.
Mauricio slowly reached for the heavy envelope, fully realizing that signing it would officially end the greatest thing he had ever had.
