Chapter 9 - The Arrest

"I built this empire, and I will not let a weak, pathetic boy ruin it," David said coldly to his dying son.
He slowly turned the smoking revolver toward me and my crying baby.
"It is a shame you couldn't just stay in your place, Emily," he whispered maliciously.
Before his finger could tighten on the trigger, the large picture window shattered completely into a million pieces.
Heavily armed FBI tactical agents burst through the front door and the broken windows simultaneously.
"Drop your weapon immediately!" the lead agent roared, leveling his assault rifle directly at David's head.
David hesitated for a fraction of a second, realizing his vast fortune could not buy his way out of this trap.
He dropped the revolver and raised his hands as agents violently tackled him to the hardwood floor.
Paramedics rushed into the room seconds later, immediately beginning life-saving measures on Michael's bleeding chest.
I sat on the floor, holding my son and sobbing uncontrollably as the adrenaline finally left my exhausted body.
The nightmare was officially over, and the monsters who tried to destroy me were finally in chains.
Sarah ran into the cabin and threw her arms around me, weeping tears of pure, unadulterated joy.
"You did it, Emily, you saved him," she cried, kissing the top of my baby's head.
Ms. Vance walked through the shattered door, accompanied by a distinguished-looking man in a federal judge's robe.
"This is Judge Harrison from the federal circuit," Ms. Vance introduced him proudly.
The judge looked at me with deep respect and immediately signed a document officially overturning the corrupt custody order.
"Your son is legally and permanently yours, ma'am," Judge Harrison assured me warmly.
I watched as the agents dragged David out of the cabin in heavy steel handcuffs, completely stripped of his power and dignity.

He stopped in front of me, flashing a terrifying, wicked smile that sent chills down my spine.
"You think you won, Emily, but you have absolutely no idea who your husband really was," David laughed maniacally.
