Chapter 3 - The Boardroom Bloodbath

By Monday morning, the Sterling stock had plummeted twelve percent. The video of Lily’s innocent question had sixty million views on social media.
Harrison sat at the head of the glass boardroom table in the Sterling Tower. Sloane’s father, a billionaire tech magnate, was screaming. Sloane was sobbing, demanding a public apology. Eleanor paced the floor, dialing crisis PR firms.
"It's a shakedown," Eleanor hissed. "She hired actors. We will demand a DNA test and then sue her into oblivion for defamation."
"I already took the test," Harrison said coldly. The room fell silent. He tossed a manila folder onto the glass table. "I went to Maya’s house last night. I took a swab. The rush results came back an hour ago."
He stood up, towering over his mother.
"They are my children. I am a father to four-year-old triplets." Harrison’s eyes were bloodshot, his voice vibrating with suppressed rage. "The wedding is canceled permanently. And Sloane, you can keep the ring."

"You are throwing away a dynasty for a charity worker!" Eleanor screamed.
"I am finding the only thing I ever loved," Harrison replied, walking out of the boardroom and leaving his mother screaming his name.
