Chapter 8 - The Hostage Cabin

I pulled myself through the freezing mud, my body aching with every desperate movement.
I searched the dark, rainy woods frantically, whispering my daughter's name into the wind.
I found a fresh trail of blood leading away from the wreckage and deeper into the dense pine forest.
I followed the dark crimson drops for a mile until I spotted a faint, flickering light through the trees.
It was an abandoned hunting cabin, its rotting wooden walls barely standing against the fierce storm.
I crept silently up to the dirty window and peered inside, my heart stopping at the sight before me.
Eleanor was standing in the center of the cabin, wearing a pristine trench coat and holding a suppressed pistol.
Clara was tied to a sturdy wooden chair, looking battered and exhausted but fiercely defiant.
David was lying unconscious in the corner of the room, his hands bound tightly with heavy zip ties.
Eleanor paced back and forth, lecturing Clara about how she had ruined their perfect, respectable family image.
She raised the pistol, calmly preparing to execute my daughter and tie up the final loose end.
I realized I had absolutely no weapons, no backup, and no time to wait for the authorities.
I pulled my cracked cell phone from my pocket and initiated the final, most destructive phase of my financial attack.
I accessed the cartel's internal routing system and transferred all of Eleanor's remaining funds directly into the personal accounts of the local police chief.
I then sent an automated message to the syndicate bosses, informing them that Eleanor had ordered the police chief to steal their money.
I kicked the rotting cabin door completely off its hinges and stepped confidently into the room.
Eleanor spun around in shock, pointing her suppressed weapon directly at my chest.
I held up my phone and told her that the syndicate now believed she had betrayed them to the local police.
Almost instantly, Eleanor's cell phone began ringing with furious, relentless calls from her cartel overlords.
She stared at the ringing phone in pure panic, realizing her empire and her life were officially over.
Eleanor let out a scream of pure rage and raised her gun to shoot me right between the eyes.
May you like
A single, deafening gunshot echoed through the small wooden cabin.
It was Eleanor who collapsed heavily to the floor.
