Chapter 4 - The Hunted

I dropped the terrifying photograph on the floor and pulled Chloe tightly against my chest.

Julian stepped into the bathroom and stared at the brick with a dark, calculated expression.

He immediately pulled out his phone and ordered a private security team to my mother’s house.

I packed our bags in less than two minutes and dragged Chloe out to Julian’s armored car.

We could not stay at the motel because Zachary clearly knew exactly where we were hiding.

Julian drove us to a heavily fortified penthouse suite downtown that belonged to his law firm.

The luxury building had armed guards in the lobby and bulletproof glass on every single window.

Once Chloe was safely watching cartoons in the living room, I finally broke down in tears.

I told Julian that I was completely terrified Zachary was going to murder my entire family.

Julian handed me a glass of water and told me it was time to stop playing defense.

He opened his laptop and hacked directly into the family group chat Zachary had removed me from.

Julian had an inside contact at the telecom company who gave him full access to their private messages.

The text messages loading on the screen made my stomach churn with sheer disgust.

Zachary and his parents were laughing about how incredibly easy it was to break my spirit.

Vanessa had just texted the group bragging that she hired a local thug to throw the brick.

They believed they were completely untouchable because of their massive wealth and social status.

Julian clicked a few buttons and forwarded the entire chat log to the local police department.

He also sent a digital copy to the largest investigative news outlet in the city.

Within an hour, Zachary’s company stock began to plummet wildly as the scandal broke online.

My phone buzzed with an incoming call from an absolutely furious and panicked Zachary.

I answered the call and put it on speaker so Julian could record the entire conversation.

Zachary screamed that I had ruined his life and destroyed his perfect public reputation.

I coldly replied that his public reputation was the absolute least of his worries now.

Before I could hang up the phone, Zachary let out a sinister, echoing laugh.

He casually mentioned that he had secretly tracked the GPS chip hidden inside Chloe's favorite teddy bear.

I stared in sheer horror at the stuffed animal sitting right next to my oblivious daughter.

A bright red laser dot suddenly appeared through the living room window and settled directly on Julian's chest.
