Chapter 6 - The Wire

The audio recording echoed loudly across the silent country club.
It was the unmistakable voice of my grandmother negotiating a massive drug shipment.
Beatrice went pale as she realized what she was hearing.
Briana stood tall and wiped the fake tears from her face.
She revealed that she had been wearing a federal wire for the past two years.
Briana was never a helpless victim trapped in a bad marriage.
She had secretly contacted the authorities when she discovered the true occupation of her husband.
The agents had used her to gather evidence against the entire syndicate.
The agents retreating to the hallway was just a tactical maneuver to surround the building completely.
Beatrice sneered and pointed the revolver directly at Briana.
She told Briana that she was a traitor to her own blood.
I grabbed the heavy leather briefcase from the table.
I swung it with all my strength and hit my grandmother on the arm.
The gun fired wildly into the crystal chandelier above us.
Glass rained down on the banquet tables as Beatrice dropped the weapon.
Federal agents rushed back into the room and tackled my grandmother to the carpet.
They quickly placed her in heavy steel handcuffs.
Marcus was still kneeling on the floor in a state of absolute shock.

An agent grabbed him by the shoulder and read him his rights.
The lead agent walked up to me and asked for my briefcase.
