Chapter 1 - The Stranger

The heavy oak door of the dressing room swung wide open, hitting the wall with a deafening crash.
My mother froze, her hands instantly releasing their brutal grip on my bruised throat.
I collapsed to the floor, gasping desperately for air as tears ruined my flawless bridal makeup.
The man standing in the doorway was incredibly tall, wearing a tailored charcoal suit that screamed old money.
He had silver hair, piercing blue eyes, and an aura of absolute authority that made the air in the room feel freezing.
My brother Jason dropped the pen, his arrogant sneer vanishing into a mask of pure terror.
"What are you doing here?" my mother whispered, her voice trembling in a way I had never heard before.
The stranger stepped into the room, his expensive leather shoes crunching over a fallen pearl hairpin.
"I came to see my daughter on her wedding day," he said, his deep voice echoing in the small room.
I stared at him in absolute shock, my mind struggling to process the impossible words.
My biological father had supposedly died in a tragic car accident before I was even born.
My mother had spent my entire life telling me he was a penniless drunk who abandoned us.
"You have no right to be here, Richard," my mother hissed, backing away toward the vanity table.
Richard completely ignored her and knelt beside me, gently helping me to my feet.
"Are you alright, Maya?" he asked, his eyes softening as he noticed the angry red marks on my neck.
I nodded slowly, too stunned to speak as I clutched the torn lace of my wedding dress.
Jason suddenly lunged forward, snatching the property transfer documents off the table.
"This is family business, old man, so get out before I call security," Jason threatened.
Richard stood up to his full height, looking at my brother with a terrifying, predatory smile.
"You can certainly call security, Jason, but they work for me now."
My mother's face turned completely pale as she realized the true extent of his immense power.
"You cannot stop this wedding," she stammered defensively.
Richard reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a thick, sealed envelope.
"I didn't come here to stop the wedding, Evelyn."
He turned to me and handed me the heavy manila envelope.
"I came to warn her about the man waiting at the altar."
Before I could even open the envelope, the door swung open again, and my fiancé Liam stepped inside.
He looked perfectly handsome in his tuxedo, but his eyes darted nervously between my mother and Richard.
"What is going on in here?" Liam asked, his voice cracking slightly.
May you like
Richard smiled coldly and pointed to the envelope in my hands.
"Why don't you show her what you are really marrying, Liam?"
