Chapter 6 - The Pier Standoff

The abandoned shipping docks were shrouded in a thick, eerie layer of morning fog.

Sarah parked the vehicle a quarter of a mile away from Pier 47.

The salty air was freezing, biting through Elena's thin stolen uniform.

Mitchell handed Elena a bulletproof vest and softly instructed her to stay behind him.

They crept through the maze of towering rusted shipping containers.

The sound of waves crashing against the wooden pylons masked the crunch of their footsteps.

In the center of the pier, a massive black luxury yacht was idling in the dark water.

David stood at the bottom of the boarding ramp, surrounded by ten heavily armed mercenaries.

He held a small, terrified Chloe tightly by the collar of her pink jacket.

The little girl was crying silently, her eyes scanning the fog for any sign of hope.

Mitchell stepped out from behind a container, holding his hands up in a gesture of surrender.

David laughed cruelly, mocking the warden for actually showing up to a suicide mission.

He demanded to see his wife before he let the child go.

Elena stepped out from the fog, her eyes locking onto her beautiful daughter immediately.

Chloe screamed for her mother, struggling violently against her father's cruel grip.

David aimed a silver pistol directly at Elena's chest and ordered her to walk forward.

He promised that once Elena was on the boat, he would push the girl onto the dock.

Mitchell knew David was lying; he fully intended to execute all of them and leave no witnesses.

Elena bravely began walking toward the yacht, her face a mask of pure determination.

She ignored Mitchell's whispered plea to wait for the signal.

When she was exactly ten feet away, David raised his gun to shoot her in cold blood.

Suddenly, a high-powered sniper bullet shattered the streetlamp directly above David's head.

Glass rained down on the mercenaries, plunging the immediate area into darkness.

Sarah had climbed to the top of a nearby loading crane and opened fire.

Total chaos erupted on the pier as the mercenaries fired wildly into the fog.

Mitchell drew his assault rifle and unleashed a volley of bullets, dropping two of the guards.

David panicked and dragged Chloe backward up the ramp toward the safety of the yacht.

Elena sprinted through the crossfire, fueled by an unstoppable maternal instinct.

She tackled a distracted mercenary, snatching his dropped combat knife from the wooden planks.

She scrambled up the metal ramp just as the yacht's engines roared to full power.

The boat violently lurched forward, pulling away from the wooden dock.

Mitchell ran and leaped over the growing gap, barely catching the edge of the metal railing.

He pulled himself aboard just as a mercenary kicked him hard in the ribs.

The yacht was now speeding out into the open bay, turning into a floating death trap.

David stood on the upper deck, pressing the barrel of his gun against Chloe's tiny head.
