Chapter 8 - The Flour Dust Inferno

Dominic landed gracefully on a rusted catwalk, unleashing a devastating hail of bullets into the warehouse.

Four Russian mercenaries dropped instantly before they could even raise their weapons.

Volkov screamed in panic, grabbing Mara's mother and dragging her behind a massive steel mixing vat.

Evelyn returned fire wildly, her bullets pinging harmlessly against the heavy metal catwalk.

"Get down, Mara!" Dominic roared over the deafening sound of continuous gunfire.

Mara dove behind a stack of old wooden pallets, covering her ears as the warehouse erupted into an absolute warzone.

Dominic moved with lethal, terrifying precision, systematically eliminating Volkov's men one by one.

He was a one-man army, fueled entirely by his desperate need to protect the woman he loved.

But a hidden sniper in the rafters suddenly fired a high-caliber round, striking Dominic squarely in the shoulder.

Dominic grunted in agony, dropping one of his weapons and collapsing heavily against the catwalk railing.

Volkov saw the opening and immediately stepped out from cover, aiming his assault rifle directly at Dominic's head.

Mara knew she had less than two seconds to save Dominic's life.

She looked around frantically and saw the massive, industrial ventilation fans that had not been used in years.

Next to the fans were dozens of dry, rotting sacks of highly flammable baking flour.

Mara grabbed a heavy iron crowbar from the floor and sprinted desperately toward the fan controls.

Evelyn saw her moving and fired a volley of bullets that completely shredded the wooden pallets behind Mara.

Mara ignored the flying splinters, slamming the crowbar violently into the massive power switch for the ventilation system.

The ancient, rusted fans roared to life with a deafening screech of grinding metal.

The massive blades instantly sucked up the contents of the rotting flour sacks, blowing a massive cloud of fine white dust across the entire warehouse.

The air became completely thick and unbreathable, blinding Volkov and his remaining men.

"Dominic, the sparks!" Mara screamed at the top of her lungs.

Dominic understood instantly, realizing she had just created a highly explosive fuel-air bomb out of airborne flour dust.

He grabbed a metal pipe and violently struck it against the steel railing, creating a massive shower of bright orange sparks.

The sparks ignited the dense flour cloud, triggering a catastrophic, roaring explosion that tore through the center of the warehouse.

The concussive blast threw Mara backward, sending her crashing hard into the brick wall.

When the smoke finally cleared, Volkov and his men were completely decimated by the fiery explosion.

Mara scrambled to her feet, coughing violently, and rushed to untie her terrified mother.

They turned to look for Dominic, but the entire catwalk had collapsed under the force of the blast.

Dominic was trapped under a massive, burning steel beam, completely unconscious and bleeding heavily.
