Chapter 9 - The Final Stand

Eleanor fell to her knees and begged Arthur to forgive her for her foolish treason.
She told them that Sterling and his elite guards were currently marching down the stairs to secure the vault.
Arthur grabbed Eleanor by the shoulder and told her they had to fight together if they wanted to live.
The heavy footsteps of armored soldiers echoed loudly from the stone corridor outside the vault.
Lord Sterling walked into the room, surrounded by ten of his most lethal, heavily armored assassins.
Sterling laughed mockingly when he saw the prince standing bravely in front of the massive machine.
He drew his sword and ordered his men to slaughter everyone in the room immediately.
Arthur pushed the women behind the glass core and charged forward to meet the attackers.
He fought with blinding speed, parrying heavy strikes and disarming two assassins in quick succession.
Eleanor picked up the heavy iron wrench and smashed it into a guard trying to sneak up behind the prince.
Despite their bravery, Arthur was quickly overwhelmed by the sheer number of highly trained attackers.
Sterling stepped forward, kicking Arthur's sword out of his hand and knocking him to the floor.
He raised his heavy blade, preparing to deliver the final, fatal strike to the defenseless prince.
A loud, booming voice suddenly commanded everyone in the vault to drop their weapons.
Old King Henry stood in the doorway, wearing his golden armor and looking incredibly healthy.

The king smiled warmly and announced that the green venom was nothing but a temporary sleeping draught.
