Chapter 6 - The Marina Infiltration

I parked my car behind a row of stacked shipping containers to avoid detection.
Leo handed me a sleek black pistol from his duffel bag and showed me how to click off the safety.
We watched silently as the armed guards shoved my crying mother and father onto the main deck of the massive yacht.
Despite everything they had done to me, I could not just sit back and watch them be executed.
"We need a distraction to get past the boarding ramp," Leo whispered in the darkness.
I noticed a heavy forklift parked near a stack of wooden cargo pallets.
I snuck over to the machine, hot-wired the ignition, and wedged a heavy brick onto the gas pedal.
The forklift roared to life and crashed violently into the cargo pallets, sending a deafening crash echoing across the docks.
The cartel guards on the ramp immediately sprinted toward the noise with their rifles raised.
Leo and I used the brief window of chaos to slip quietly up the ramp and onto the lower deck of the yacht.
We crept through the opulent corridors, following the sound of aggressive voices coming from the main lounge.
I peeked through the glass doors and saw Trevor standing confidently in front of Mateo.
Trevor was actively trading my parents' lives to the cartel as collateral for his massive debts.
My father was begging for mercy, offering to sell his own organs to pay them back.
"I cannot let them die, Leo," I whispered, feeling a strange mix of duty and profound sadness.
Leo nodded and suggested we sabotage the yacht's engine room to prevent it from reaching international waters.
We descended a narrow metal staircase into the dark, humming belly of the ship.
I quickly located the primary fuel lines and used a wrench to loosen the main pressure valves.
Suddenly, the heavy steel door of the engine room slammed shut behind us.
Trevor stood on the other side of a reinforced glass window, smiling wickedly at me.
"You always were too smart for your own good, Clara," he mocked through the intercom system.

He pulled a massive red lever on the wall, sealing the watertight bulkheads completely.
Cold ocean water immediately began pouring into the engine room through a massive ventilation grate.
