Chapter 5 - The Hostage Sister

I stared down the barrel of my own sister's gun in utter disbelief.
"Are you completely out of your mind, Hailey?" I demanded, refusing to back away.
"Trevor left you strapped to a bomb, and you still want to protect him?" I asked incredulously.
Hailey's hand trembled violently, but she kept the weapon securely aimed at my heart.
"He told me the bomb was just a fake prop to scare the cartel away," she argued desperately.
Leo slowly raised his hands in a gesture of surrender, subtly shifting his weight to his back foot.
"Hailey, that bomb was absolutely real," Leo stated in a calm, authoritative voice.
"Trevor intended to blow you into a million pieces to destroy any evidence linking him to the stolen money."
Hailey shook her head frantically, refusing to accept the harsh reality of her disastrous choices.
She demanded that I sign over the physical master deeds to my Beverly Hills estate immediately.
She claimed Trevor needed the properties to leverage a new deal with the cartel boss.
"I will never give that monster another dime," I replied fiercely.
Hailey stepped forward, pressing the cold metal of the gun against my collarbone.
In that exact moment, Leo executed a flawless tactical sweep of her legs.
Hailey collapsed backward onto the expensive rug, dropping the silver handgun in shock.
I quickly kicked the weapon far across the room and pinned my sister to the floor.
Leo grabbed the discarded ropes and expertly tied Hailey back into the heavy wooden chair.
"You are going to sit right here and think about your life choices," I told her coldly.
Leo plugged a decryption drive into the penthouse computer to track the final destination of the offshore funds.
"The money was routed to a private server located on a massive yacht," Leo announced after a few minutes.
He confirmed the yacht was currently docked at a highly exclusive slip in Marina del Rey.
We left my treacherous sister tied to the chair and sprinted back down to my car.
I sped toward the marina, absolutely determined to end this nightmare once and for all.

As we pulled into the shadowy parking lot near the docks, my blood ran completely cold.
My parents were being forcibly marched up the boarding ramp of the yacht by three heavily armed cartel guards.
