Chapter 7 - The Forged Diagnosis

The courtroom erupted into confused murmurs as Marcus pushed the trembling doctor toward the front.

Daniel’s face drained of all color, and he violently grabbed the edge of the defendant's table.

Sarah, my attorney, smoothly requested permission to present a surprise witness to the court.

The judge, clearly intrigued by the sudden interruption, granted the request and swore the man in.

The man on the stand was Dr. Elias Thorne, the physician whose signature was on my fake dementia diagnosis.

Sarah asked him directly if he had ever examined me or even met me before today.

Dr. Thorne kept his eyes glued to the floor and whispered a shameful, terrified "No."

He confessed that he had lost his medical license two years ago due to severe malpractice and gambling debts.

He admitted that Vanessa had paid him fifty thousand dollars in stolen cash to forge my medical records.

Vanessa shrieked from her seat, calling the doctor a liar and demanding a mistrial.

The judge slammed her gavel repeatedly, threatening to hold Vanessa in contempt of court.

Sarah pressed the doctor further, asking how a disgraced physician ended up connected to my daughter-in-law.

Dr. Thorne trembled violently, his eyes darting nervously toward the back of the courtroom.

He confessed that Vanessa didn't find him on her own; she was introduced to him by a powerful criminal syndicate.

The courtroom fell completely silent as the gravity of his words hung in the air.

Dr. Thorne revealed that Victor Vance had orchestrated the entire medical fraud to ensure Daniel got control of my assets.

Daniel needed the power of attorney to access a hidden trust fund Thomas had left for me.

If Daniel didn't hand that trust fund over to Victor by tomorrow, the syndicate was going to kill him.
