Chapter 6 - The Courtroom Surprise

We arrived at the towering downtown courthouse with a team of elite attorneys flanking us.
Daniel and Vanessa were already sitting in the courtroom, whispering to their cheap, sleazy lawyer.
Vanessa wore a conservative dress, clearly trying to play the role of the concerned, loving daughter-in-law.
The judge entered the room, a stern woman who looked completely exhausted by family disputes.
Daniel’s lawyer stood up and painted a tragic picture of my declining mental health.
Vanessa took the witness stand and shamelessly lied under oath, crying fake tears.
She claimed I was constantly wandering out of the house, forgetting my own name, and becoming violent with the children.
I sat perfectly still, refusing to give them the emotional reaction they were trying to provoke.
My lead attorney, a brilliant woman named Sarah, finally took the floor for cross-examination.
She dismantled Vanessa’s lies with precision, exposing the stolen jewelry and the drained bank accounts.
Sarah presented the undeniable evidence that Daniel and Vanessa were financially abusing me.
The judge frowned deeply, her sympathy for my son rapidly evaporating.
Daniel’s lawyer panicked and quickly submitted the official medical diagnosis to the bench.
He argued that financial disputes didn't matter if I was medically diagnosed with advanced Alzheimer's disease.
The judge reviewed the document, her expression darkening as she read the severe medical conclusions.
She looked down at me and stated that the medical evidence was incredibly compelling.
She raised her gavel, preparing to rule in Daniel's favor and hand my life over to him.

Before the gavel could strike the sound block, the heavy courtroom doors swung open with a loud crash.
Marcus walked down the center aisle, escorting a terrified man wearing a wrinkled doctor's coat.
