Chapter 4 - The Uninvited Guest

I stared at Harold, demanding to know how my son was connected to a dangerous criminal from our past.

Harold explained that Victor Vance had sworn revenge after Thomas legally outmaneuvered him decades ago.

Daniel must have unknowingly gone to Victor for a loan when his business first started failing.

Now, Victor was using my son to drain our family of everything we had built.

Before Harold could explain further, the penthouse intercom buzzed loudly.

The building concierge announced that my son was in the lobby, demanding to be let up immediately.

Harold told the concierge to send him up, his eyes hardening with protective fury.

A few minutes later, the elevator doors opened, and Daniel stormed into the foyer.

He looked frantic, his tie loosened, and his eyes darting around the luxurious apartment.

He demanded that I pack my bags and come back to the house immediately.

He claimed that leaving so abruptly was causing severe emotional distress to my granddaughter, Lily.

I stood tall, refusing to let his manipulative guilt trip affect me.

I told him I knew about the empty bank accounts, the pawned jewelry, and the shadow company.

Daniel’s face flushed red with a mixture of intense panic and burning anger.

He took a threatening step toward me, but Harold immediately stepped between us.

Daniel sneered at Harold, completely abandoning his respectful facade.

He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a folded legal document with an official court seal.

He slammed the document onto the entry table and smiled with cold, calculated malice.

He announced that if I didn't come home willingly, he would have the police drag me back.

The document was an emergency power of attorney order, declaring me mentally unfit to care for myself.
