Chapter 2 - The VIP Trap

I stood completely frozen in the stadium bleachers, entirely unable to process the horrifying reality of David's impossible confession.

Before I could even formulate a response, Ethan's eyes rolled back in his head and he collapsed heavily against my side.

I screamed for a doctor as Julian's massive bodyguards immediately surged forward and scooped my unconscious son into their arms.

Julian calmly ordered his men to take us to his private luxury suite at the top of the stadium, leaving us no choice but to follow.

We were shoved into an incredibly opulent room with floor-to-ceiling glass windows that overlooked the ongoing football game below.

Ethan was placed gently on a leather sofa, his breathing dangerously shallow and his skin burning with a sudden, unnatural fever.

The stadium door locked behind us with a heavy, terrifying click, trapping us completely inside the billionaire's private fortress.

The kind female volunteer who had organized this entire trip for us suddenly stepped out from the shadows of the suite.

She removed her casual jacket to reveal a sharp, expensive business suit, her warm and friendly smile completely vanishing.

She introduced herself as Evelyn, the lead corporate attorney for Vance Pharmaceuticals, and explained she had been tracking us for months.

Evelyn pulled a thick, legally binding contract from her designer briefcase and placed it squarely on the glass coffee table in front of me.

Julian sat down in a velvet armchair, crossing his legs elegantly as he poured himself a glass of expensive bourbon.

He explained that the contract would officially transfer all parental and medical rights of Ethan over to him immediately.

I furiously refused to sign away the boy I had raised, threatening to scream for the police and expose his kidnapping attempt.

Evelyn laughed coldly, tapping a polished fingernail against the dense stack of legal documents resting on the table.

She informed me that if I did not sign the papers right now, she would immediately hand a different folder over to the authorities.

That second folder contained absolute, irrefutable proof that David had deliberately kidnapped Julian's biological son ten years ago.

Julian took a slow sip of his drink and smiled, enjoying the absolute power he held over our shattered family.

He promised that if I refused his generous offer, Ethan would die of cancer and my husband would spend the rest of his life in federal prison.

I looked at David, who was sitting on the floor with his head buried in his hands, utterly defeated by his own past sins.

My heart shattered into a million pieces as I realized that saving my son's life meant completely destroying the only family I had ever known.

I slowly reached a trembling hand out toward the gold pen resting beside the contract, tears blinding my vision completely.

Before the tip of the pen could even touch the paper, David suddenly lunged across the table and snatched the document away from me.

He ripped the contract in half with a furious roar, declaring that he would never let Julian take our son away from us without a fight.

Julian's eyes darkened with pure malice as he snapped his fingers, signaling his massive guards to draw their concealed, suppressed weapons.

The bodyguards aimed the deadly firearms directly at David's chest, waiting for their boss to give the final execution order.

Julian leaned forward, his voice dropping to a terrifying, deadly whisper that echoed loudly in the silent luxury suite.

"If you want to play the hero today, David, I will happily let you watch your son take his final, agonizing breath."
