Chapter 10 - The True Empire

Two years later.

The grand ballroom of the estate was lit up once again. Crystal chandeliers burned above us. Champagne glasses glittered. But this time, there were no hidden agendas, no whispered betrayals in the corners.

It was our wedding night.

I stood at the center of the room, looking dashing in a black tuxedo, feeling the solid, powerful strength in my legs. The room was filled with true friends, loyal colleagues, and family who actually cared.

The double doors opened, and Elena walked in.

She was breathtaking in a simple, elegant white gown, her dark hair cascading down her shoulders. As she walked toward me, the entire room fell silent in reverence. There was no cruel curiosity here, only love.

I took her hands as she reached me.

“You look beautiful,” I whispered.

“You look pretty good on your feet, Mr. Sterling,” she teased, her eyes sparkling.

As we danced our first dance, spinning effortlessly across the polished marble floor, I thought about the journey that had brought us here.

I heard through the grapevine that Chloe had recently taken a job as a hostess at a mid-level chain restaurant to pay off her mounting credit card debt. Robert and Marcus were adjusting to life in federal prison. They had tried to break me to steal an empire of money.

Instead, I broke them.

And in the ashes of their greed, I found a real empire. An empire built on trust, respect, and a woman who had knelt beside a broken man and reminded him what it meant to be human.

I pulled Elena closer, kissing the top of her head.

The accident didn't break me. It woke me up. And I had never felt more alive.
