Chapter 8 - The Ultimate Betrayal
The FBI agents immediately raised their assault rifles and aimed directly at the truck driver.
Ethan screamed frantically for them to stand down and lower their weapons.
He quickly explained that the terrified truck driver did not hit my car on purpose.
Diane had secretly tampered with the brake lines of his truck to cause the fatal accident.
The innocent driver had actually helped Ethan escape from the mercenaries Diane had hired to hold him hostage.
Ethan confessed that he had emptied my trust accounts early to protect the money from Diane's legal loopholes.
He had secretly used those funds to hire a private tactical extraction team to hunt her down.
He looked deep into my eyes and told me that they finally knew exactly where Diane was hiding.
She was currently at a private airstrip trying to charter an illegal flight out of the country with Noah.
The FBI agents quickly loaded everyone back into the heavy tactical vehicles.

As we sped down the highway toward the airstrip, Ethan looked at his tracking device and cursed loudly.
Diane's private jet had already been cleared for immediate takeoff by the corrupt tower control.
